Tom Carter, a native of North Wales, Great Britain, created the Milwaukee Field Hockey Club shortly after beginning his Wisconsin high school and club coaching experience in 2009. With his Level II field hockey coaching certification from both Great Britain and USA Field Hockey, Tom has brought international field hockey expertise and a passion for high level coaching to MKEFHC. As a striker himself, Tom is the offensive coordinator for the club and specializes in training young athletes to execute a wide range of technical, goal-scoring skills. As a young player in Wales, he joined the Rhyl Field Hockey Club at age 13 and was quickly selected for the North Wales Regional U14 and U16 teams which led to his international experience as part of the U18 Welsh National Team. Finally, before coming to America as a camp counselor, Tom was captain and leading goal scorer for York - St. John University Men's Field Hockey team in northern England.
In addition to his position as Head Coach of U14, U16, and U19, Tom oversees the training program for the MKEFHC Elite Travel Teams in their preparation for USA Field Hockey events such as the National Indoor Tournament, Festival and the Regional Club Championships. Tom supports MKEFHC athletes in their college pursuits by communicating with coaches and making/editing recruitment videos. Tom has a Sports Management degree from Cardinal Stritch University of Milwaukee. Tom has increased his knowledge and skills in the administration of this sport organization, including financial management, marketing, recruitment and sponsorship. Tom's educational background, combined with his high-level playing experience, serves as a solid foundation to promote field hockey as a professional coach and club owner. Tom is excited to promote field hockey among very young athletes through the MKEFHC programs as well as the development of a youth boys' program.
Tom is certified in CPR and First Aid by the Red Cross.
